Training and Development

GroFin has offered a platform for me to grow both personally and intellectually. I have been able to sharpen my skills financial and business analysis through various training programmes and on-the-job experiences. This has improved my versatility to compete with employees in any reputable financial services institution in the world. I have also been given the opportunity to develop my capacity to manage resources, both personnel and financial. Most notable of my experience in GroFin was the experience of managing the country office for eight months. This was an experience that I believe has in no small way helped in molding my abilities as a manager”.

-Funso Fasetire, Nigeria

“I was part of a training in Accra co-facilitated by Shell Foundation. This training brought together private equity and Growth Finance practitioners from Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya. The sharing between colleagues and other trainees from other funds was insightful. It helped me to develop a network of friends across Africa and also take lessons from other funds especially from the more developed Western Africa markets.”

-Amos Gichinga, Kenya

“Through my E-front training, I was given access to a number of front line tools designed that provide the cornerstone to our business/risk management process.  The system complements our service proposition perfectly; providing bespoke and scalable solutions dedicated to meeting the needs of those who manage the complex fund structures.

The training has played a central role in increasing our operational efficiency and in securing our internal processes. Through GroFin’s introduction of E-Front, we now have access to reliable investment and portfolio information from every GroFin office.”

-Samuel Sedegah, Ghana

Reward and Recognition

“It was a great surprise to hear that I was nominated for the Star of the Quarter award but an even greater surprise when I was selected as the Star of the Quarter.  It means a lot when you know that your efforts are seen and appreciated.  It not only motivated me to do my best in future but it also made me feel that I am part of a team.”

- Miekie Schmidt, SA

“GroFin is a performance-driven environment where professionalism and core values are entrenched and embedded  our induction period.

The selection process for the award as the “staff of the quarter” came as a surprise and I was overjoyed to be worthy of recognition. It never occurred to me that one’s little efforts at the corner of an office could be monitored and appreciated at the group level. This attests to the fact that no sincere effort goes unnoticed at GroFin.

The motivational effect is long lasting. I remain committed to the objectives and values of GroFin as I dedicate the achievement to members of the Portfolio team in  particular and the entire Nigeria office in appreciation of the team bond.”

-Femi  Salami, Nigeria

Opportunity

“GroFin gave me access to the opportunity to effect real change in the SME segment in a country in which it is a top priority. In my role, I was given the opportunity to impact policy at the group level and to manage a new team of a nationality different to my own.

With this position I have also been given the ability to learn a new fund model and the ability to work on SME credit issues beyond those of risk management on a daily basis.

With GroFin, I have been challenged to think beyond borders for clients as well as team mates.”

Bill Crew, Oman

Impact

“Through my work for GroFin, I am implicitly aware that I am contributing to strengthening the SME sector and Growth Finance space. SMEs constitute a vital engine of economic growth, especially in developing countries. The development of emerging economies has positive spin-offs for those employed by the businesses we support, as well as their families and surrounding communities. I have always been concerned with giving back to my community. Through being a part of GroFin I am able to not only help others, but teach them to help themselves.”

Amy Heydenrych, South Africa

Organisational Culture

“GroFin’s culture of working together as a family is exceptional. It is one place that employees in different country offices interact freely, celebrate each other’s birthdays, work as though the whole team is at the same level and above all, are ready to offer a helping hand when necessary.

Unless one asks one can never know who the boss is in any GroFin office because of the culture. We are flat structured and are free to interact with all staff at all levels.”

Abdel Tomusange, Uganda

As a member of GroFin, your expertise and passion for what you do contributes to a business that is the leading solution for entrepreneurs. We are proud of the progress we have made and continue to forge new territory.”

-Guido Boysen, South Africa
